Love was in the air Friday evening as the Columbus Blue Jackets played the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 win in overtime in Scott Hartnell’s 1000th game. The former player picked up an assist Friday evening in a “must win” game for both the Jackets and Flyers.

Highlights:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly  THE BEST

THE BEST: Jared Boll

While I wasn’t able to catch the entire game due to a delightful Japanese steakhouse meal, I was able to catch the Haley’s comet of occurrences, a unicorn in its natural habitat, I saw a Jared Boll goal. It was beautiful in every sense of the word, the pass, the shot, the celebration. I truly couldn’t get enough of it. I wonder if this will change his game at all and he will be more offensively minded? Unlikely but a man can dream, especially when he is only in the first year of his three year contract. Jared Boll, you are the best.

In all seriousness with the trade deadline looming, this is a weird time in Blue Jackets history. The team, the fans and the front office all know that the Blue Jackets aren’t this bad of a team. Injuries have played a big role in this 2014-15 season as no one could have predicted but it raises many questions come the beginning of March. Cam Atkinson has had his name thrown around most recently in trade talks and is finding himself as a restricted free agent after this season. Do they believe Cam is a part of the core? Will other players on team friendly deals find themselves traded before they try to re-up this offseason? For all intents and purposes this season is over for the Blue Jackets. They have less than a one percent chance to make the playoffs this year and it would require a record end to the season for them to even have a chance. Jarmo and JD have a bunch of tough questions to ask themselves that involve the off season, not the here and now.
