Al Davis once again did not make the trek to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Once upon a time, Davis and the Raiders eschewed the combine, preferring to rely instead on the Raiders scouting department, but ultimately became a fixture at the Combine.
In recent years, as Davis’s health has been declining, he has not been making the trek. In NFL Network’s television coverage, Mike Mayock paid tribute to Davis and how he rose through the ranks of the Raiders organization to become the owner.
For the longest time, Davis had his own seat near the start of the 40 yard dash. He sat near Bill Parcells and Gill Brandt. Brandt has been a scout for the Dallas Cowboys for many years, and was instrumental in the creating of the combine.
