AL East Standings 5/10/13

6

Ahh, it's been another week in the world of the 2013 MLB season, so it is time to look at where things are in the AL East standings.

The Sox sure took a beating this week.  They lost 6 out of the 7 games played since the last time we checked in.  The Sox got swept by the Rangers in Arlington and then headed home to lose 3 out of 4 games to the Twins.  It seems like the hot play in April has not continued in May.  The Sox haven't seen nearly as much production from the power hitters of David Ortiz and Mike Napoli and the pitching has left a lot to be desired.

The Sox went from being on top of the AL East to suddenly seeing the Yankees name over their's and in a statistical 3 way tie for the AL.  It's hard to predict the upcoming week since I'm not sure which Red Sox team will be taking the field.  In my lowly opinion, if the pitching goes back to form then this team will be fine.  If not, then we are in store for a bumpy road this season.

The Sox start off with a series against the Blue Jays tonight and through the weekend.  While the Jays have struggled out of the gate, I keep waiting for them to become the great team they were hyped to be.  Let's hope they don't do that this weekend while they are at Fenway.  The Sox then have an off day on Monday and head down to Tampa to face the Rays at the Trop.  The Rays are struggling as well, so it'll be a question of who is struggling more in that series.

So, Fenway West readers….if you had to take a bet, will the Sox be a top the AL East this time next Friday?  Why or why not?
