It's Friday which means it's time to check in on the standings:

The Red Sox are just barely holding on to the lead in the AL East.  The Sox took 2 out of 3 from the Yankees and then faced off against the Rays.  The Sox and Rays were supposed to play a 4 game series, but the game on Thursday got rained out.  The Sox lost 2 out of 3 of the games which were played and the makeup game is on Monday at 6pm.  The Sox will play the Orioles this weekend while the Rays play the Yankees.  The Sox always seem to have a hard time with the Orioles and the Yankees have been limping along this season, so who knows if the Sox will be able to keep the lead in the AL East or if the Rays will overtake them.  After the O's series and the one game against the Rays, the Sox will take on the Mariners and Diamondbacks at home, so they at least get a break not having to plan a team in the AL East.
