If you just line up athletes in this one, Texas should be a no brainer pick. But Texas has had a tough time turning all of their talent into wins. They also have had a tough time beating good teams. They are 1-3 this year against teams ranked in the Top 25 (at the time of the game) and the one win was against a Texas Tech squad that was over ranked. The Longhorns also come into this game as losers of their last two games.

Oregon State played much better than expectations this season and got off to a great start beating Wisconsin and UCLA. The only real blemish on their season is a three point loss to Washington.

The Achilles heel for the Texas defense this season was the ability to stop the run (last in the Big 12 and allowed 26 rushing TDs). Oregon State is not particularly great at running the ball so it looks like the Beavers strength (second in Pac-12 in passing yards) will be going up against the better aspect of the Longhorns defense.

I think this ends up being a tight game that could be decided on the last possession. David Ash will start for Texas and Cody Vaz will start for Oregon State and it could come down to which one of those QBs can make a play late in the game.

OREGON STATE 31 TEXAS 28
