ALDS Game 1 Countdown: Buck Foston – Red Sox @ Angels

Really?  The Red Sox have the Angels number?  I hadn’t heard that!  What a shocking revelation.  Oh, woe is the Angels and this damned jinx against Boston!  Whatever shall we do?!?!  Oh, right… BUCK FOSTON!!!!!!!!

Buck Foston

Seriously, screw those Massholes!  This is the year of the Angels!!!

I am sick and tired of hearing all this crap about how the Angels will never, ever, ever, ever be able to defeat the Boston Red Sox in the playoffs and just how they own the Halos.  It is all a giant pantload of grade A bullshit.  The Red Sox are just a team and nothing more.  They have no mythical properties.  There is nothing special about them.  Yes, they are a good team, but so are the Angels.

There is no reason to be intimidated by these Boston assclowns.  I mean, when did they become such a scary monster?  This time five years ago they were just the lovelable losers of the American League.  Are they really that much different now that they have finally had a taste of success?  No, and the sooner the Angels and their fans realize it the better off we’ll all be.

So instead of curling up and watching the game in the fetal position waiting for some terrible fate to befall the Angels, Halo faithful need to stand up, get rowdy and energize their team.  We could actually all learn a lesson from the Red Sox when it comes to breaking supposed curses.  Boston finally ended their 86 years of futility because they believed they could.  The Angels need to start believing they can beat the Red Sox.

It is time to quit worrying about curses and make their own magic!  Let’s all believe in the power of the Rally Monkey and scream as loud as we can, “Buck Foston!!!!!”

Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Series Tied 0-0)

Starters: BOS – Jon Lester (15-8, 3.41 ERA)  LAA – John Lackey (11-8, 3.83 ERA)

Game Info: 6:37 PM PT TV-TBS, Radio-ESPN Radio, KLAA 830 AM, KFWB, KWKW 1330 AM

THREE Questions:

  • Can John Lackey back up all his big talk?  Big John has been the driving force in the “what hex?” movement and needs to lead by example by stepping up with a strong performance tonight.  That includes not getting overly amped up like he sometimes does in big games.
  • Will Mike Scioscia manage like he always does or will he inexplicably shy away from aggressive play yet again?  Sosh has been developing a bad habit of managing scared in the post-season, especially when it comes to stealing bases.  Speed is the one area where the Angels can really take advantage of the Red Sox, so they can’t afford to have Scioscia suddenly throw up a stop sign on baserunners like he did last year.
  • Who will emerge as the surprise star of the series?  I just hope it is an Angel.

TWO Predictions:

  • I might be getting to far ahead of myself, but I feel a late-inning Angel come-from-behind victory.
  • I’ve held out long enough on my official prediction for the series, time to man up… Angels in 4.  And I am not just saying that to be an Angel honk.  I honestly believe that there is something special about this year’s team and they are truly destined to win the title.

ONE Wish:

  • I wish that the Angel starters are able to go deep into each ball game.  The Red Sox are redonkulous when it comes to working a pitch count, so the Angel rotation will have its work cut out for itself, but going at least seven innings is crucial considering the shaky state of the Angel bullpen.

ZERO Tolerance for… the reemergence of the bad old Angel offense.  The team has worked so hard to become more patient and selective at the plate, but I just have a lurking fear in the back of my mind that the “swing at everything” offense is going to resurface if they fall behind early.
