After a 5 hour plus rain delay the Xfinity drivers were finally on the track for 300 miles. After the race ids over 4 divers will be eliminated from championship contention.
The race started off with Daniel Suarez leading laps after lap. At lap 28 it was the first caution of the day as Angela Ruch spins out. The race restarted and it was a bit of a wild restart as Elliott Sadler got loose and went up the race track. Elliott did not bring out the caution as he lost a whole bunch of spots. As the green flag racing continued Erik Jones got hot and took the race lead with a few laps left in the first stage. At lap 43 though Angela Ruch spun out once more to bring out the caution. Erik Jones easily won the first stage.
The second stage was all Daniel Suarez as he led lap after lap and took the second stage. Leaders pit and Daniel Suarez kept the race lead.
The third stage started off with a short green flag run and Matt Tifft brought out the caution for a tire violation during an unscheduled pit stop. As the race continued at lap 113 Justin Allgaier and his car was done for the day. The next caution though came out at lap 121 as Erik Jones spins out.
As the race continued this time Ryan Blaney got to lead laps and at lap 141 we got a debris caution as something from the flag stand fell onto the track. Some cars pit under the caution. We did not get a long green flag run and get a new caution as a car left fluids on the track. With under 20 laps left in the race it was Alex Bowman getting to lead laps as Ryan Reed in the back was hanging onto the 8th and final spot to still have a chance to win the championship by a single point. Brendan Gaughan was trying to get the final spot as the laps quickly went down and was closing in on Elliott Sadler. Brendan Gaughan did run out of laps as Alex Bowman in his first Xfinity race of the season wins the race at just over 11pm EST.
“Been a long time since I have raced,” said Alex Bowman.
“We were getting the one(Elliott Sadler),” said Brendan Gaughan.
“Up and down night,” said Ryan Reed.
