Alex Reyes’ 1st Inning Was Highlight Of Cardinals All-Star Week

With all due respect to Aledmys Diaz and whatever he may do in his (most likely short) appearance during tonight’s MLB All-Star Game… the highlight of the week for Cardinals fans has already happened.

Alex Reyes got the start for the ‘World’ team in the MLB Futures game.

It went well.

Very well.

Very, very well.

Oh, you want video proof?

The Cardinals have been trying their best to tamp down expectations of seeing Reyes in St. Louis any time soon.

“The command and being able to pitch at this level also requires certain readiness, and that’s the part that will be the question,” (John) Mozeliak said. “I would say that all the reports have been continuing to be more positive, when you talk about command vs. control. “He has control. It’s just having the ability of pitch efficiency and trying to lower his pitch count to go longer in the game.”

Considering he currently sports a 4.35 ERA with 20 walks in 41.1 innings, it’s not an unreasonable thing for a GM to say.

Then again, fan sentiment is quite a bit different.

That quote is pulled directly from a STL Today column called “Cards Need To Bring Up Reyes After The Break” that was written BEFORE the video above was public record.

The article they posted after the outing? “Alex Reyes Made Baseball Hyperventilate“.

So, yeah, the Cardinals are going to have to bring up Reyes. Sooner than later, looks like. At least if their @ mentions want to avoid the wrath of #STLCards Twitter every single time a reliever takes the field that isn’t Reyes.

I speak for you, me and all of us when I say… can’t wait.
