Allen Iverson was known for his spectacular ability on the basketball court. He had more swagger than anyone else who ever played the game (Jason “White Chocolate” Williams was a close 2nd). Iverson would cross you up, step over you, and cross you up again just because he could. He was an incredible scorer, and he had fun being one.
Iverson made a rare public appearance Tuesday night, as he came into Vegas to accept the Game Changer Award from the National Basketball Players Association’s Players Awards. The speech he gave should be remembered.
“I always wanted to be like Mike,” Iverson admitted. “If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be on this stage. I wouldn’t have had the vision to be a basketball player, so I love him for that.”
A.I. went on to sincerely thank the players that opposed him every game, because they were the ones who brought out his heart on the court. He also talked about life, and how he could relate it to basketball.
