The Altoona Curve defeated a league and commonwealth foe in the Reading Phillies to advance to the Elite 8 of Baseball Digest’s “Best of the Ballpark” competition for Double-A. Defeating Reading makes People’s Natural Gas Field the best Double-A stadium in Pennsylvania as voted on by the fans.
PNG Field came into the voting and competition ranked 20th overall by Ballpark Digest. For each round, the ballparks were ranked and placed into a bracket where fans were able to vote for the ballpark of their choice in each matchup.
In round one, PNG Field overtook Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomer Biscuits of the Double-A Southern League by garnering 63 percent of the votes. The Curve and PNG Field took on Eastern League rival Reading in round two where PNG Field took home 61 percent of the vote.
With their defeat of the Phillies and their home FirstEnergy Stadium, Altoona advanced to the third round to take on Smokies Park, home of the Tennessee Smokies of the Southern League.
Online voting for round three will continue until June 11th at 7 AM central time. Currently PNG Field is leading the vote by a margin of 60 percent to 40 percent.

The Curve are currently in the middle of a six game road trip as they take on Harrisburg tonight at 6:30 PM. Altoona currently sits two-games ahead of Bowie atop the Eastern League Western division standings with a 31-41 record.
