I got a chance to talk to New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire yesterday in New York. This was part of an Excedrin event where he surprised Walt Arnett of Lexington, KY… who won a contest about "what's your headache?"
After the festivities, I got to ask Amare about the lessons learned from playing the Celtics, a team whose stars play very well together. In a nutshell, he says it's all about staying confident and playing together on the offensive end… and then taking it upon themselves to get better defensively. That answer comes at the 1:22 mark.
Amare's been preaching defense a lot over the past week, which is interesting because he's known for disappearing on that end of the floor. So is Carmelo Anthony. So we'll see if he changes his focus this offseason.
Other topics include the lockout, his favorite memories out west, and how the next generation of NBA big men is looking. You can also check out my Flickr photoset from the event. Thanks to Jeff from Project Spurs for the hook up.
