UPDATE: Ah, why the hell not throw these two tidbits out there.
1) Red Sox signed outfielder Gabe Kapler for the rest of the season and placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lower back.
Expect Kapler to start rehabbing in Florida, then go on a rehab assignment that will land him in a Boston uniform mid-August.
2) The Yankees just hired Joe Kerrigan to be an advance scout with the possibility of either being their pitching coach next year or bullpen coach.
