  • Thirteen different receivers caught at least one pass with 10 of those players catching at least two throws.
  • A dozen different players had carries with Gilmore doing the most damage from the Gamecocks version of the “Wildcat” formation or as USC fans call it – the “Wild Cock.”
  • Former track athlete Marty Markett had the game’s lone turnover, as he picked off a Clifford pass. It was Markett’s third interception in two scrimmages.

Spurrier Quote of the Day”

“Our offensive line is still making a lot of mental errors, like we’ve done historically around here. We’re trying to get smarter but we’re not quite there yet. That’s why we practice. We’re a long way off from being a decent team. I believe we’ve got a chance to, but we’re a long way off right now.”

Overall a typical Spring Scrimmage as other players got a chance to get involved and new plays were tried with new players.  Garcia is still #1 so don’t even begin to think about this issue.  I like the idea and plays from the “Gilmore” package, it is a must it is used in 2010.  Glad there is options at Kicker as we need a good option for kick-offs.  I like the fact that Scruggs and Bennett got some reps at WR because they could prove to add great depth at WR.  Still can not figure out this Marty Markett kid and hate to see Barnes get his knee tweaked.

South Carolina will return to the practice field on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the “Proving Grounds.”  The practice is open to the public. USC has 5 practices left.  Looking forward to the Spring Game on April 10th and praying for good weather.
