And now Brian Elliott is out at least 4 weeks

The Blues can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries. Brian Elliott can’t catch a break when it comes to his time with the Blues. After allowing a goal, Elliott was forced to leave the game early against the San Jose Sharks and will now miss at least four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Details on Elliott’s injury have been scarce, but it looked like he strained his knee or leg while reaching back in an attempt to find a puck which trickled past him. He was able to skate off on his own power, but he was laboring.

Jake Allen, who was just activated off the IR, will now be thrust into the spotlight as the team’s starter. Recently I wrote about how the Blues should use Allen (sparingly as Elliott rides down the stretch as the starter), but now all bets are off as Allen is the top goalie and Pheonix Copley will serve as backup. Things looked promising with Allen returning and Elliott rolling, but now the Blues have Allen (who is hopefully 100% and ready to roll) and Copley (stay healthy Allen, please) in a precarious goaltending situation.

Talk about bad injury luck. The Alexander Steen news was brutal. This Elliott news is devastating.
