I am proud to say that my picks in the Elite 8, whittling it down to the Final 4, I was 3/4! 75%! Not bad, right? And really, I was 50% from the beginning of the tournament, so that’s still pretty good. Right? I am going to say yes and move on. All I know, is that I can’t possibly go 75% again the rest of the way, since, you know, there are only three games left.
Kentucky vs Louisville: The cross state rivalry, being played in New Orleans will certainly have a bit of heat, simply because it is a cross state rivalry. Big time programs, big time coaches in John Calipari and Rick Pitino will also make this a commentators dream. Seriously, this has all the hallmarks of a historic game. Oh, except Kentucky is a lot better than Louisville, and will win handily. A general rule of thumb in the Final Four is this: Upsets stop happening. Pick: Kentucky
Ohio State vs Kansas: Oh, man! The Buckeyes and Kansas are both two seeds! Looks like I actually need to put a little thought into this one. Kansas has not played well throughout the tournament, nor have I been tremendously impressed with them this season. They have reached this station of the Dance, because they faced Purdue and North Carolina State, two teams that were not supposed to be where they were, and North Carolina, who was down a point guard. The point is a pretty important positions. I think Ohio State will win, handily. Pick: Ohio State
Kentucky vs Ohio State: I know everyone loves the underdog and all, but I’m actually a little excited to have two teams that are legitimately talented. If the underdog makes a deep run every year, they are hardly the underdog anymore, right? Anyways, I think Ohio State matches up well with the Wildcats’ primary weakness: Youth. Especially in the backcourt. In the paint, you can get away with size and skill, and I think Kentucky will match up well with Ohio State: seeing Anthony Davis square off with Jared Sullinger should be fun. In the backcourt, William Buford and Aaron Craft may be able to force the Wildcats and their young… everyone… into key turnovers. The game will be a good one, I think, but in the end…. Pick: Kentucky
