And this is why we are having an NHL lockout

An excerpt from Jesse Spector’s article today on the Sporting News:

“We made at the time what we thought was a fair deal,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said toward the end of his press conference at a Manhattan hotel after meeting with the league’s Board of Governors on Thursday. “It actually turned out to be more fair than perhaps it should have been.”

“More fair than it should have been” This translates directly to, we should have bending the players over the barrel a little bit more aggressively.that they were before. “No no,” Gary Bettman essentially said, “We want the players to get less than what is fair.”

Hard to believe the Players haven’t agreed to a deal yet.
