Wisconsin head coach spoke earlier today to ESPN Wisconsin's Homer and Thunder program and some good notes happened during the interview. If you want to listen to it all, you can find it here. There was some pretty good insight into his philosophy on the recruiting trail and how different this process has been and a little bit of an insight into who coach Andersen is as a person as well. Here are the highlights for you.
Coach Andersen On his relationship with Urban Meyer:
"I'll definitely give Urban a hug," said Andersen. "I've got a ton of respect for Urban and I was fortunate enough to be on his staff that on a great football team that year I was at Utah. He's a very good friend and a very good coach and we look forward to the opportunity to play in the horseshoe."
On the transition for this team and the recruiting class:
"I'm excited to get out and talk about the kids in the program here too. They've done a tremendous job handling this transition. I'm very proud of the way they've handled it. Getting to know these young men over the past month, it's been crazy."
On keeping this class together:
"I think the coaches – Thomas Hammock – did a tremendous job of keeping this class together when there wasn't a coach. I think the coaches that came in did a great job. It was a battle, it was very different type of recruiting, that I've been involved in."
On recruiting at the QB position:
"Our goal is to create as much competition as you can on the football team, within the parameters of each specific position group. We always want to try to recruit the highest level young men that fits our bill – a young man that wants to succeed socially, academically, and athletically – and are tough minded."
