Andrew Luck has to help

Andrew Luck has to helpLast year, Curtis Painter was 0-8, while throwing 6 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions. He completed 132 passes and was really, just tremendously unpleasant to endure watching. I went to Purdue, as did Painter, and I thought he was a bad, pity choice by the Colts, drafting a local guy to fill a roster spot that wouldn’t be used, necessarily.

Dan Orlovsky, he of running out of the end zone fame, came in for the final 5 games of the season and went 2-3, and was also able to throw for 6 touchdowns, 122 completions and only 4 interceptions. The team, even in defeat, looked much more capable. Let me break that down for you. Dan Orlovsky made the Colts look competent.

I am of the opinion that Curtis Painter may have been one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL’s history. If they had Orlovsky starting mre games last year, I think the Colts could have pulled off a few more wins. IF they had run the wish bone last year and had Donald Brown taking snaps, I think they would have had more wins. Curtis Painter was a fantastic, unholy disaster as an NFL quarterback.

What I am driving at here is that Andrew Luck will make the Colts much better this year, but so would Drew Stanton and Chandler Harnish. The Colts maybe looked good yesterday because of Andrew Luck, but more importantly, they looked good because Curtis Painter wasn’t there.
