The May 14th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels a trade match for Tulowitzki, details on Huston Street extension and much more…

The Story: The Angels seems like a potential trade match for Troy Tulowitzki.
The Monkey Says: Don’t tell that to Erick Aybar. This actually isn’t the worst idea, but it requires more thought, so check back later today for a post on exactly just that.

The Story: Details on the Huston Street contract extension.
The Monkey Says: The more I look at the numbers and the comparables, the more reasonable this deal looks. Considering he originally wanted a four-year deal between $36 million and $46 million, it is a real bargain.

The Story: Ryan Mattheus was claimed off waivers by the Reds.
The Monkey Says: D’oh! The unnecessary risk the Angels took ended up coming back to bite them after all.

The Story: Mike Trout solved his high fastball problem.
The Monkey Says: Sorry, rest of the league, you’re screwed now… unless you pitch to just about anyone else in the Angels lineup. That seems to work out pretty well for you.

The Story: The best and worst lineup spots in MLB so far.
The Monkey Says: If you just focus on the Angels, they are getting almost no production from spots four through seven. I can’t imagine why their offense is struggling.

The Story: A look at the host starts of prospects Jett Bandy and Andrew Heaney.
The Monkey Says: There is some heat to get Bandy called up building among fans, but it is hard to see how that will happen. The Angels probably don’t want to risk their depth by cutting Iannetta loose entirely and rolling with two rookie backstops. Heaney probably still needs an injury to pop up to get his promotion. Either that or Matt Shoemaker is going to have to get shelled a few more times over the rest of the month.
