The February 10th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels avoid arbitration with Joyce, Halos have fourth best lineup and much more…

The Story: The Angels avoided arbitration with Matt Joyce.
The Monkey Says: And now they are done. Joyce gets $4.75 million this year and then will hit free agency, though I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Halos revisit talks with him near the end of the season if he plays well and Josh Hamilton continues on the path to getting released.

The Story: Sports On Earth rates the Angels lineup as the fourth best in the league.
The Monkey Says: They played as the second-best last season but they lost Howie Kendrick. They also added Matt Joyce, who should help offset that loss a little bit. Even with Hamilton’s issues, this should definitely still be a top five offense in MLB.

The Story: Baseball Prospectus released their top 101 prospects.
The Monkey Says: The Angels only got Heaney in the top 101, at #37. Sean Newcomb was in all the other top 100s I’ve seen, but apparently he didn’t quite make the cut for BP.

The Story: Angels single-game tickets will go on sale February 21st.
The Monkey Says: Buy ’em now or take your chances with variable game pricing as the season goes on.

The Story: Ranking the top outfields in baseball.
The Monkey Says: How bad is Josh Hamilton? So bad that he dragged the Halos down to #6 despite the presence of Michael Nelson Trout. No gonna lie though, I disagree with that ranking. Even with Hamilton’s issues, I don’t see how the Halos outfield is worse than the Dodgers and a Nationals outfield which features three players that can’t stay healthy. Wake me when Harper actually delivers on his MVP promise.
