The May 20th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Angels show interest in Revere, Joyce thought day game was a night game and much more…

The Story: The Angels have shown interest in trading for outfielder Ben Revere.
The Monkey Says: They showed it “previously” suggesting they haven’t been in on him recently. That could just be a temporary thing though. With Calhoun now moving to clean-up, acquiring a true leadoff hitter might take precedence for Dipoto. That doesn’t mean Revere is a good idea. He brings no offensive value outside of a high batting average based on a high BABIP. If he can’t sustain that in the AL, he’s worthless. There are better options out there for the Halos.

The Story: Matt Joyce was scratched on Monday for being late due to thinking it was a night game not a day game.
The Monkey Says: Well, that’s embarrassing. It was an unusual start time, but not exactly the thing you expect from a professional.

The Story: Josh Donaldson will be investigated by MLB for his gestures during Monday’s game.
The Monkey Says: He’s probably going to get fined. That should be the end of it as the Angels aren’t really the vindictive types. Now, if he pulled that stunt against the Royals there would probably an international incident.

The Story: The ten players most likely to be dealt by the trade deadline.
The Monkey Says: I only link to this because of how much the Angels are listed as potential destinations, not for hitters though, for pitchers. That might’ve made sense before the season, but the rotation has had the third-best ERA in the AL and the eighth-best FIP in the AL despite the early struggles of Weaver and Shoemaker. With Heaney and Tropeano waiting in the wings, rotation help hardly seems anywhere close to as pressing as fixing the lineup.

The Story: Matt Shoemaker appears to be actively trying to avoid groundballs.
The Monkey Says: I don’t know if I full buy this. Shoemaker is really struggling with his command, so I’m not convinced he’s doing it on purpose. It is worth monitoring though as going back towards inducing grounders seems like a pretty good way for him to resolve his home run problems.

The Story: Mike Trout vs. Bryce Harper could become one of the great debates.
The Monkey Says: NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Why does it even have to be a debate? Why can’t we just admire how good they both are independently of each other? Not everything in life needs to degenerate into a segment on First Take.

The Story: A lack of over the fence power is the key thing holding back Kyle Kubitza.
The Monkey Says: Well, he’s got other issues too. He whiffs a lot and his defense is average at best. He seems likely to reach the Majors at some point this year, but the overall point is true that he’d probably already have been called up to take a crack at the DH role if he were knocking out more dingers in Salt Lake.
