The May 1st, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Dodgers wanted to trade for Hamilton, Wilson has elbow drained and much more…

The Story: The Dodgers wanted to be part of a three-way trade for Josh Hamilton.
The Monkey Says: This is almost certainly the mystery NL team that Hamilton allegedly vetoed a trade to. The Dodgers wanted to horn in on the action so that they could extract some assets by acting as an intermediary in a three-way deal between the Angels and Rangers. Either way the Rangers were getting Hamilton, but the Dodgers wanted to skim a little off the top and give the Angels something more than the saving they got.

The Story: C.J. Wilson had fluid drained from his elbow.
The Monkey Says: He says it is no big deal. You’ll have to forgive me if remain skeptical of a guy with a history of elbow problems having to have his swollen elbow drained.

The Story: Albert Pujols is day-to-day with a hamstring strain.
The Monkey Says: He is expected to avoid the DL, but he probably won’t play until after the series in San Francisco, especially because of the lack of DH.

The Story: Jerry Dipoto preaches patience with the Angels offense.
The Monkey Says: He knows that there just isn’t a trade market right now. I’d be shocked if Dipoto didn’t add another bat before the deadline, even if everyone start hitting. It just isn’t going to happen for at least another month because that is just how the market works.

The Story: Chris Iannetta is ready for his offense to improve.
The Monkey Says: He says he feels fine at the plate, so there isn’t any explanation offered other than he is just pressing right now. He’s still walking at a good clip, so it isn’t as if he has lost total control at the plate. One imagines that things will start clicking sooner or later.

The Story: Mike Trout is stealing more bases this year thanks to better preparation.
The Monkey Says: He is working with Dino Ebel more and studying video on pitchers. This has given him more confidence to take risks on the bases, which is weird because he had a stellar success rate his first year in the league, so it isn’t as if he ever needed to show more caution.
