The January 14th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including eight Angels file for arbitration, Krauss clears waivers and much more…
The Story: Eight Angels filed for arbitration on Tuesday.
The Monkey Says: Which is entirely normal. The action likely won’t come until Friday when teams and players exchange figures. The “easy” arbitration cases will settle quickly then, while the rest will be strung out until February as the hearings approach. None of the Angels are expected to go to a hearing.
The Story: Marc Krauss cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The Monkey Says: He’ll get an invite to spring training almost for sure, but he doesn’t stand much of a chance at making the roster. Instead, he’ll hang around the minors as outfield and first base depth.
The Story: The best team that “realistic” money can buy.
The Monkey Says: This is basically a framing device for showing which great players are currently woefully underpaid, including Mike Trout, as his expensive contract years haven’t kicked in yet.
