The April 30th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Josh Hamilton won’t respond to Scioscia’s comment, Weaver frustrated by lack of wins and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton says he will respond to Mike Scioscia’s comments “on the field.”
The Monkey Says: He claims to not actually be aware of the comments and isn’t interested in them. He wants to put it behind him. Interestingly, he also admits that only Wilson and Freese have contacted him since the trade, so perhaps the whole “everyone in the clubhouse loves him and has his back” quotes we heard from other Angels before the trade was really just an act.

The Story: Jered Weaver is frustrated by going winless in April.
The Monkey Says: Maybe he should try pitching better. Scioscia continues to insist that they are confident Jered will get himself right, but with each passing start it is harder and hard to believe that. He’s four starts into the season and has fanned just 10.3% of batters. The lowest among qualified pitchers in all of baseball in 2014 was Mark Buehrle at 13.9%. Weaver’s career rate is 20.2% and his previous career low was 18.5%. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID.

The Story: The Angels optioned Cam Bedrosian to Triple-A and activated Matt Shoemaker.
The Monkey Says: Cam was nothing special in his recent cup of coffee, so he’s off to do some more work in the minors.

The Story: Huston Street doesn’t believe that the Josh Hamilton trade will influence his potential extension one way or the other.
The Monkey Says: It certainly can’t hurt, but he’s probably right. I still doubt that the Angels actually want to do an extension, at least not right now as they might want to make sure he gets through the season healthy before guaranteeing him a bunch of money.

The Story: Chris Iannetta’s transformation into becoming a better pitch framer.
The Monkey Says: A lot of the advice he got was from Hank Conger, so that was totally cool of Hank to help make himself expendable in Anaheim. It is paying off big time because so far this year Iannetta rates as one of the best framers in all the land.

The Story: The All-Star ballot has been released.
The Monkey Says: I only mention this because it includes the Angels taking one last jab at Hamilton as they didn’t have him listed on the ballot, opting for Joyce and Cron instead. Considering that the players on the ballot are finalized weeks ago, this is another sign of how much the Angels wanted to be done with Josh. I suppose it is possible that MLB left Hamilton off due to the drug relapse, but I highly doubt that was the case.

The Story: Keith Law released his top 25 players under 25.
The Monkey Says: Trout leads the list and is the only Angel on it.

The Story: The ZiPS top 25 players under 25.
The Monkey Says: Trout also leads this list and is also the only Angel on it. The takeaway from these two posts is that Mike Trout is awesome in every regard and that the Angels have no other good young players.

The Story: The complicated reunion of Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers.
The Monkey Says: What a fun trip down memory lane.
