The March 17th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Manfred to take time on Hamilton decision, Trout and Pujols share a strong bond and much more…

The Story: Rob Manfred is in no hurry to decide Josh Hamilton’s fate.
The Monkey Says: At one point, we thought a decision might be made as early as last week. Now, Manfred seems more than happy to leave him twisting in the wind. Josh’s injury does reduce the urgency, but it also puts the Angels in a tough situation as they don’t know whether to plan on him missing 25 games or 162 games. Some might view that as Manfred trying to stick it to Arte Moreno a little bit, others might view it as the commissioner trying to show compassion to Hamilton and others still might see it as the commissioner taking his sweet ass time because he doesn’t want to screw up the first major disciplinary decision of his tenure.

The Story: Mike Trout and Albert Pujols have developed a strong bond.
The Monkey Says: A few years ago there were rumors of their actually being tension between the two, but it sounds like they’ve overcome that. Turns out winning and playing well helps people get along.

The Story: The Angels sent Danny Reynolds, Jeremy McBryde and Frank Herrmann to minor league camp.
The Monkey Says: That 40-man spot McBryde got is clearly paying dividends already.

The Story: The Angels will play an exhibition game against the Salt Lake Bees in March of 2016.
The Monkey Says: The game will be in Salt Lake, so get your tickets now if you live in the area. Or move. Probably move. (Just kidding, I’ve never been to Utah, I’m sure it is very lovely.)

The Story: Jim Bowden thinks the Angels should trade for Chase Utley.
The Monkey Says: He also apparently thinks that the Phillies will just give Utley away and that Utley would even approve a trade even though he’s repeatedly declined the opportunity to leave Philadelphia. Other than all that, this seems like a very well thought-out plan.

The Story: MLB.com unveils their top 30 Angels prospects.
The Monkey Says: This should be the last of them, but there are a few interesting difference further down this list compared to other lists, including MWAH’s own Top 30 prospects.

The Story: John Sickels released his top 175 prospects in baseball.
The Monkey Says: Heaney is in the top 30, but Newcomb only barely cracked the top 100. Baldoquin is merely an honorable mention.

The Story: Breaking down MLB team payrolls.
The Monkey Says: You might be surprised to see how little of the Angels roster is comprised of free agent veterans.
