The February 19th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including the Marianoization of Huston Street, training camp questions for Angels and much more…

The Story: The Marianoization of Huston Street
The Monkey Says: This is a very interesting read and it might well have changed my mind on how much Street could regress next season. The homers are still an issue, but there appears to be real hope that he can sustain the very low BABIP he’s been sporting the last three years. That’s very good news for the Halos, but it still doesn’t make me think that signing him to an extension before the season would be a mistake.

The Story: The three biggest questions facing the Angels going into training camp.
The Monkey Says: The Hamilton thing doesn’t concern me all that much. It looks to me like Dipoto and company more or less planned on Hamilton being a major question mark this season. Trout walking on water is a fun question, but not an important one. I’m much more concerned about what kind of production both offensively and defensively the Halos will get out of their cadre of crappy second basemen.

The Story: In a poll of fan confidence, it turns out Angels fans don’t think very highly of Mike Butcher.
The Monkey Says: I’m shocked. This is me being shocked. I had no idea the fan base felt this way because nobody ever complains about Butcher ever. Never. Not once in the history of time.

The Story: A look at pitchers who aren’t the “same pitcher anymore.”
The Monkey Says: Richards and Skaggs both appear on this list and their adjustments in pitch mix were both considered to be major contributors to their success in 2014. Wilson also shows up as throwing his slider a lot less, though I wonder if that was more a function of him being behind in the count even more than usual rather than a conscious change in approach.
