The February 17th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Richards throws first bullpen session, Angels have 28th ranked farm system and much more…

The Story: Garrett Richards felt good after his first bullpen session since his injury.
The Monkey Says: He still has a long way to go, but he also continues to make steady progress. As of right now, he has a chance at being ready for Opening Day.

The Story: Baseball Prospectus ranks the Angels as the 28th-best farm system.
The Monkey Says: That’s actually real nice progress because they were dead last in 2014 and it really wasn’t all that close. For them to move forward a few steps while also having made several trades of prospects in the last year is a great indicator of what Dipoto and company have done to restock the system.

The Story: John Sickels releases his top 20 Angels prospects.
The Monkey Says: No big surprises here, but it is the most reasonable take I’ve seen on Baldoquin. Not a lot of prospect profiles have been willing to admit that there just isn’t anything approaching a consensus on the Cuban.

The Story: The Heaney-Kendrick trade has the potential to be a rare win-win trade.
The Monkey Says: This is from old friend Lyle Spencer, who even managed to sneak in some of his patented Jeff Mathis adoration into the piece. Of course, Spencer only focuses on 2015. He more or less overlooks the fact that the Dodgers might have traded six cheap years of a potential frontline starter for one year of Kendrick. That’s way more of a win for the Angels if Heaney realizes his potential.

The Story: The Angels head into training camp with increased depth.
The Monkey Says: This is arguably the deepest pitching staff they’ve had in a decade. Then again, besting the pitching depth of Angels teams during the Reagins years isn’t all that difficult.
