The April 10th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Scioscia not concerned over Weaver’s velocity, Richards strong in rehab start and much more…
The Story: Mike Scioscia is not concerned over Jered Weaver’s velocity.
The Monkey Says: As I highlighted yesterday, he shouldn’t be concerned at least not yet and not so long as the Angels don’t relocate to the Arctic Circle.
The Story: Garrett Richards threw seven strong innings in a minor league rehab start.
The Monkey Says: It still isn’t a regular season game though, so the Angels look as if they are sticking to the plan of getting him to make at least one more rehab start before rejoining the team.
The Story: A healthy Albert Pujols is returning to form.
The Monkey Says: Healthy? Did you see him try to leg out a double on a ball he lined off the left field wall on Tuesday? He was running like his leg joints had rusted shut.
The Story: The Angels don’t know when they will next see Josh Hamilton.
The Monkey Says: Yeah, things are super copacetic in that relationship right now.
The Story: A look at the minor league parks that help and hurt offense the most.
The Monkey Says: This really puts in context why the Salt Lake Bees now use a humidor and why they need to use whatever the opposite of a humidor is in Arkansas.
The Story: If every team had one move the could get a do-over on.
The Monkey Says: I’m actually kind of in favor of taking the do-over on the Greinke trade, but I really think the Vernon Wells trade is the thing that needs to be undone, moreso than the Hamilton signing. That deal set the franchise back by years. It also cost them a valuable commodity in Napoli that they functionally flushed down the toilet. Wells’ contract also jammed up their payroll for years too. The Hamilton move is a big problem, but the Wells move was an even bigger problem. Actually, the real problem is that the Halos have so many moves that they would want to re-do.
The Story: Reviewing the Angels international amateur signings for the 2014 period.
The Monkey Says: Paywall, so I couldn’t read the whole thing, but there is undoubtedly interesting stuff there on guys you probably don’t know much about.
The Story: Would you ever stop liking the Angels?
The Monkey Says: The only thing that could make me quit them is if ownership exhibited reprehensible behavior for an extended period of time. With the Hamilton debacle, Moreno is off to a great start. Depending on how he handles the stadium negotiations can really push him a lot further down the road. But, hey, cheap beer, right?
