The April 7th, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news including Street still open to extension, calls to investigate Angels for Hamilton leaks and much more…

The Story: The Angels and Huston Street are still open to a contract extension.
The Monkey Says: Huston had previously said he would cut off talks on Opening Day, but the sides both seem open to the idea still. The fact that the season has started will change the dynamics of a deal as tearing up Street’s 2015 contract is no longer possible. It probably still isn’t very likely to happen though.

The Story: Keith Olbermann calls for an investigation into the Angels potentially leaking details of Josh Hamilton’s relapse.
The Monkey Says: Olbermann attacks the team and, specifically, John Carpino in his usual vociferous manner. Olbermann has no actual evidence that the Angels leaked the details, but common sense sure points a finger at them. Whoever is guilty should be punished for these leaks, but I highly doubt anyone will investigate since all of these cases get leaked and nothing ever happens to everyone.

The Story: The two-hole is finally being utilized better by MLB managers.
The Monkey Says: All you “bat Mike Trout third or fourth” folks can go ahead and just pipe down now.

The Story: The one Spring Training stat that might actually matter.
The Monkey Says: Just in case you wanted a reason to panic about Matt Shoemaker.

The Story: Taylor Featherston preps for his new role.
The Monkey Says: The Angels like his athleticism, something the roster generally lacks outside of Trout, and Scioscia claims he won’t be afraid to use him. However, we don’t actually know how he intends to use him since they already said they won’t pull Freese for defense. Maybe Featherston will be a defensive replacement for Giavotella or as a pinch-runner for Freese.

The Story: A preview of upcoming milestones for the Angels.
The Monkey Says: Dudes played a lot of games. That’s all you really need to know.
