The Story: Mike Trout is going to try to be a weatherman in the offseason.
The Monkey Says: IT’S HAPPENING! Trout’s weather obsession has gone from rumor to fully confirmed. All hail the Millville Meteorologist.

The Story: Scioscia intends to rest Albert Pujols regularly down the stretch.
The Monkey Says: This further confirms my theory that Pujols’ recent slump was partly due to his health deteriorating. Scioscia has been DHing him quite a bit lately and even saw fit to give him a full day off despite him homering in three of four games. I can’t wait until after the season to find out what injury he has been hiding.

The Story: Is Mike Trout in trouble?
The Monkey Says: This is another conspiracy theory I subscribe to. It could just be that I never noticed previously, but Trout (to the best of my knowledge) has recently started wearing some sort of protective device on his left hand when running the bases. It started out looking like a glove to protect his fingers while sliding, but the other night it looked more like a straight up wrist brace.

The Story: Clayton Kershaw and Albert Pujols will play wiffle ball for charity.
The Monkey Says: And you can enter for a chance to play with them. Can you even imagine the kind of things Kershaw could make a wiffle ball do?

The Story: The return of a dominant Jered Weaver is exactly what the Angels needed.
The Monkey Says: No, what they need is some offense, but I get the point. Weaver being good again certainly helps. I can’t believe anyone would ever think that he was totally washed up. Any person who would say such a dumb thing in public has to be pretty embarrassed right now.

The Story: Who is the right choice for AL MVP?
The Monkey Says: I believe this is the third Trout vs. Donaldson post I’ve linked to this week. Here’s an idea: since this race is clearly very close right now, why don’t we just shut up about it and let the remaining six weeks of baseball play out and see if that creates some separation between the two and thus removes the need for such debate?
