Day 2 of the draft is underway and the Angels have made their third round pick by selecting RHP Grayson Long out of Texas A&M.
With the 104th overall pick in the 2015 #MLBDraft, the #Angels select RHP Grayson Long from Texas A&M.

The Angels passed over some of the more high profile high school arms still available, likely due to signability, but in Long they get big righty with a good changeup and command. This seems to be the model they’ve been targeting in recent years. According to most reports, Long projects as a back-of-the-rotation starter which isn’t exciting except that those reports are also pretty confident that he will remain in the rotation rather than wind up in the bullpen eventually. That is an asset the Angels are quite short on in the system, so it is easy to see what the appeal is here for the Halos.
