The Good: The offense had a good night scoring 10 runs on 13 hits, led by outfielder Julio Perez who had three hits and two RBI’s. Tim Kiely pitched six solid innings, giving up just two runs on seven hits for the win. Jordan Walden pitched two perfect innings, fanning two.
The Bad: Centerfielder Clay Fuller had a hit and two RBI’s on the night, but he’s currently hitting just .176 on the season.
Noteworthy: The Travelers played an early game today and while they lost 4-1, Ryan Braiser (5.29) gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings of work, relievers Ryan Aldridge (0.75) and Michael Kohn (0.61) continued to pitch well out of the bullpen, throwing scoreless frames a piece. Aldridge actually pitched an inning and 2/3.
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

The Good: Gabe Jacobo continued his hot hitting with a 3-4 night, raising his average to .333. Jacobo clubbed two doubles and one triple on the night, while driving in two runs (27). Roberto Lopez played right field on Monday and had two hits, raising his average to .360. Tyler Chatwood pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to a organization best 1.91. Chatwood gave up just three hits and struck out six, but he walked four. Robert Fish earned his 4th hold on the season pitching a scoreless inning and a 1/3.
The Bad: Alexi Amarista is 0 for his last 8, lowering his average to .341.
Noteworthy: Third baseman Dillon Baird went on the disabled list with a bruised wrist. C Bobby Wilson will begin a rehab assignment with the Quakes either today or tomorrow.
Cedar Rapids Kernels

The Good: Mike Trout clubbed two more hits (seems like a broken record here), including a double and with his stolen base on the night (19) he tied (NWA – KC Royals) Derek Robinson for the minor league lead in that department. 2B Jean Segura, RF Justin Bass and 1B Casey Haerther also had two hits on the day, Haerther with a home run, his third and three RBI’s. Fabio Martinez Mesa struck out 10 in just four innings of work, but he gave up four runs, on four hits and five walks. Reliever Kyle Hurst (2.20) moved to 4-1 with three scoreless innings of relief. Jeremy Berg saved his third game of the season and lowered his ERA to 1.46 for the Kernels.
The Bad: Carlos Ramirez is hitting just .128 in his last ten games, .185 overall.
Noteworthy: The Angels top draft pick Randal Grichuk was placed on the DL with a sprained thumb.
