Salt Lake Bees
Sunday’s Box Score

The Good: Bobby Wilson went 3 for 3 and homered on Friday. Unfortunately, there’s nothing else to report on “the good” for the Bees other than Terry Evans game on Saturday in which he went 3-5 with a triple, four RBI’s, and two stolen bases.

The Bad: According to a scout at Sunday’s game, Sean O’Sullivan has been tipping his pitches of late. He looked awful again on Sunday, giving up six runs on 11 hits in just 5 2/3 innings of work. Trevor Reckling was also shelled over the weekend, allowing eight runs (16 baserunners) in just 3 2/3 innings. Two of the Angels top prospects Hank Conger and Mark Trumbo went a combined 2-16 over the weekend.

Noteworthy: Southpaw prospect Will Smith will make his second start for the Salt Lake Bees tonight at home against the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate.

Arkansas Travelers
Sunday’s Box Score

The Good: Michael Kohn. The right-handed reliever has owned Double-A hitters to this point, posting a 0.51 ERA, while fanning 23 in 17 2/3 innings. Kohn struck out three in two perfect innings of work on Sunday. The starting staff did a good job as well over the weekend. Flores (6 2/3 IP, 1 ER), Michael Anton (7 IP, 0 ER) and Tim Kiely (6 IP, 3 ER).

The Bad: Andrew Romine is hitting just .205 in his last ten games, including just one RBI and one extra base hit. Romine has been caught trying to steal six times out of 11 chances.

Noteworthy: Ryan Braiser takes to the hill tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals Double-A affiliate.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
Sunday’s Box Score

The Good: Tyler Chatwood was man of the weekend for the Quakes, throwing seven shutout innings, while striking out seven and walking just one. Chatwood lowered his ERA to 1.65 on the season and has been the best Angels’ prospect pitcher in 2010 to date. Alexi Amarista (.356) surpassed Roberto Lopez for the team lead in batting average over the weekend with seven hits in 15 plate appearances, including one walk. Alexi stole two bases, giving him nine vs. seven CS’s on the season. Andrew Taylor continues to get it done in relief, sporting a 1.83 ER and a .159 BAA. Taylor struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief work over the weekend. Tyson Auer stole his 17th base of the season. He ranks second in that department to Mike Trout who has 20.

The Bad: Chris Scholl blew the game (his second blown save) and took the loss on Sunday after giving up two runs on four hits in an inning and a third of work. He did strikeout four.

Noteworthy: Ryan Chaffee took a step closer in the right direction on Sunday, giving up just four runs in six innings of work, lowering his ERA to 10.19 on the season. Chaffee has yet to notch a quality start in four starts for the Quakes this season.

Cedar Rapids Kernels
Sunday’s Box Score

The Good: Trout just continues to rake, going 3-4 on Sunday to raise his average to .372. He also clubbed his 5th home run of the season. For the weekend, he went 6 for 14 with two walks. Fabio Martinez Mesa flashed his mid 90’s fastball, superb slider on Sunday which resulted in 12 strikeouts over seven innings, giving up just two runs. The changeup was shown to hitters too, giving them something else to to of while at the plate. Garret Richards notched a quality start (6 IP, 3 ER), while striking out five. Nine of his 13 outs were on the ground. Tyler Skaggs struck out eight in four innings of work. That’s the good (He gave up four runs, including a three-run homer). Orangel Arenas pitched give scoreless innings on Friday, lowering his ERA to .199. Opponents are hitting just .219 off the Venezuelan.

The Bad: Jon Bachanov was hit hard again out of the pen, giving up two runs on three hits in an inning of work over the weekend, which increased his ERA to 5.52. He does have 17 K’s through 14.2 innings.

Noteworthy: The Kernels have the day off on Monday to participate in the Kernels Foundation Charity Golf Outing starting at 11 am at Gardner Golf Course. They open a three game series on Tuesday, May 18 against Quad Cities.
