Another Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss has not changed the story: Bucs are not a good football team

Before you go on about how its Coaching (and for the record, yes the problem is coaching; 3 coaches in 6 years, so stop with the “fire Lovie” talk, thats WHY the Bucs have no talent, don’t make it even worse!), take a look around the Bucs roster, and tell me how many players would make it on another teams roster?

How many teams are looking for Crezdon Butler? How many Defensive Lines around the NFL would Larry English or Akeem Spence find themselves on? Da’qan Bowers for matter? Tandy? Mcdougald? Shepard?

Yes, its true, the Bucs are to blame, they brought these players in, and

McCown led offense was 12 of 17 on third downs. Defense let the team down again, the 5th 4th Qtr lead.

for the most part, Tampa Bay’s free agent signings for 2014 have been busts. But you don’t build a team through Free Agency.

Did you see Green Bay last night? Only Five players on their roster ever played for another team. The Bears had 31, tops in the NFL; Free Agents augment, draft picks build a foundation.

Its not just coaching, rookies make mistakes, every rookie does, on every team. Its a learning experience.

The Bus spent their draft picks all on offense, and for the most part they seem to be well spent. Mike Evans gives the Bucs someone to really get excited about. Next year, Lovie Smith and Jason Licht need to duplicate that success on the defensive side of the ball, and use free agency to shore up the offensive line.

Don’t be surprised if the Bucs don’t draft a QB with the top pick, and take an all world Defensive End or franchise Left Tackle. The Defense was the culprit in this loss, giving up 27 points to Atlanta at home is unforgivable. Josh McCown put up over 300 yards of offense, the Bucs ran the ball, threw the ball, more than enough to win. The Bucs were 12 of 17 on 3rd down conversions, thats great.

Remember Tampa Bay had the ball twice in the last two minutes to score, had the game been only a 3, 4, or 6 point margin. 20 points should be enough to win a home game.

This is NOT 1996, because  other than McCoy and David, the Bucs are missing key parts of their defense at almost every position. At the top of the list is a Mike Linebacker, Mason Foster is NOT a Tampa Two middle linebacker. Add Safety to that list. Luckily these can all be had in the next draft, and developed next year, the real 1996.
