Anquan Boldin and San Francisco 49ers defeat Green Bay Packers 34-28

In a rematch of the NFC Divisional Playoffs from last season, the Green Bay Packers were looking to exercise some demons at Candlestick Park but that did not happen as San Francisco had different plans and won today’s game.

Today was Colin Kaepernick’s first time as the self proclaimed number one quarterback in San Francisco as Alex Smith is now in Kansas City. Kaepernick did not disappoint today as he put on an offensive clinic throwing and running the ball. He had 434 yards of total offense, 412 in the air and 22 on the ground. But he was not the big story coming out of today’s game that went to newly acquired wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

Boldin, who came over from the Baltimore Ravens in free agency, had a career day. He had 13 receptions for 208 yards and one touchdown. It seems like he will become Kaepernick’s new target. With Boldin having a big game, it led to tight end Vernon Davis having a big game as well. Davis had six receptions for 98 yards.

For the Packers, Aaron Rodgers was still being “The Man” as he put the Packers in great field position the entire game. Rodgers threw for 333 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Rodgers’ wide receivers were active throughout the entire game starting with Jordy Nelson who had seven catches for 130 yards, and one touchdown. Then Randall Cobb joined the action with seven catches of his own for 108 yards and a touchdown. Finally, Jermichael Finley had a touchdown grab himself, which is good for fantasy football owners.

Even rookie, Eddie Lacy out of Alabama got his first rushing touchdown in today’s game. Lastly, former Eagle Nnamdi Asomugha did not have a tackle in today’s game. But the big news from today’s game was Anquan Boldin and it will be interesting to see how Kaepernick and him grow together because I bet you this, Joe Flacco misses Boldin right about now.
