If you thought you’ve had enough of mock drafts, well we’re on your wavelength. No one knows
who is going to go where, its like picking the lottery numbers. We can pretty much assume the Bucs will take Jamis Winston with the No. 1 Pick, so Bucs Franchise QBs will be the segment saved for last.
Leading up to the draft, I’ll be looking back at the Bucs history surrounding the draft. We will look over all the options, and how they’ve played a role in Bucs history.
1) Up first, the TRADES- The Major deals the Bucs have made to work magic in the draft: some of it good, some of it…well, not so good. You’ll hear names like Wally Chambers and the Throwin Samoan, and it will either jog your memory, or be fresh news to your ears. The Bucs were once a wild bunch, trading the top pick in the draft away on many occasions, and that was decades before trading to the Raiders to beat them in the Superbowl. Find out how the Bucs fared.
2) The Running Backs- Well take a look at Buccaneers Tailbacks that Tampa Bay has risked the world to get, and how they fared here or elsewhere. Sure you know the Bucs drafted Bo Jackson, but Did you know the Bucs could have drafted Earl Campbell and Tony Dorsett in back to back years? Did you know the Bucs had a running back they wanted really bad in the 1996 draft, and it WASNT Mike Alstott? And the Bucs ended up getting him later on anyways??
3) The Defensive Pieces- The first pick in the Bucs first draft was on the first Hall of Fame player in Bucs history. They’ve picked up some great pieces all along the say. From arguably the best draft in Bucs history (1995) to perhaps the worst, the Bucs picked up a lot of defensive players, well get to know the best and worst.
4)Quarterbacks- This is a 4 part series as we look into QBs the Bucs have drafted to be “The Guy” for the next decade, in order of being drafted, Doug Williams, Vinny Testaverde, Trent Dilfer and then Josh Freeman. In each case, as with EVERY Bucs QB that has ever played for Tampa Bay, they never made it to a second contract.
