Well that was fun, said no Ohio State fan Saturday night after Penn State ruined Ohio State’s perfect season and road game winning streak.
Actually, the Buckeyes ruined it themselves with poor offensive line and special teams play, and lack of offensive execution at time.
It wasn’t a great showing despite somewhat impressive offensive numbers.
We like to see that. But did we get to see anything else we liked, and wanted?
I love Penn State week because I don’t like Penn State and I love beating the Nittany Lions. OSU has done a lot of that lately.
I love to see it. What else do we want to see?

A win – Not flying the W flag here.
No false starts – Way too many. Of course one is too many.
Air it out – They tried a couple times. Had a nice one on the final drive but for some reason the official declined to call pass interference.
Shutout – Ha. And the defense gave up another rushing TD. Come on boys.
Ben
A quick start would be nice to see – Welp, it was another slow start for the Bucks.
Air ball – Seven receivers caught at least one pass so J.T. Barrett did spread it around. But none of the “others” really made an impact.
No room to run – Saquon Barkley was held to under 100 yards (99) after last season’s 194-yard effort. As a team, the Nittany Lions netted 122.
Shocker – Illinois was in a close game with Michigan. Then the game started.

Make them take off the white – The white hung around all night as the Nittany Lions gave their fans a reason to stay until the end.
Spread the wealth – Everyone got involved. Mike Weber caught eight balls, but many were dump-offs when nothing else was open. Nonetheless, Barrett did complete at least one pass to seven players. Parris Campbell and Terry McLaurin each had one.
Be a play calling genius – Wasn’t great, again. The right guys touched the ball the right number of times. But it was still off. Maybe it’s time for Urban Meyer to step in?
Mike
Tempo – That’s another thing that was missing. Just to smoothness or rhythm.
Play calling – Curtis Samuel needs touches. Weber needs touches. Barrett needs to throw a certain number of passes. But finding the right blend of these things is key and it appeared it all molded well. But lack of pass protection, and poor special teams play made it look worse than it really was. Maybe it’s time for a change in who is calling the shots.
Make it Hurt – Oh it hurts. But for the wrong reason. It hurts because OSU lost and now Penn State things it’s a rival with the Buckeyes agin.
Bonus … solid D-line play – It was a good effort by the defensive line. But apparently it wasn’t good enough.
Joe
Keep the Undefeated Streak – Gone are Meyer’s perfect record against PSU as OSU coach, the perfect record in road games under Meyer and the undefeated season.
Run Samuel, Run Weber, Run Everyone – The Buckeyes ran for 220 yards. However thanks to the sacks and tackles behind the line, they netted just 168.
Force McSorley into throwing situations on third down – Penn State was 2 of 13 on third down, but OSU’s ball-hawking defense could not manage an interception.
Sack attack for the OSU defensive line – Ohio State had one sack. One lousy sack.
