Another titan has fallen in the NCAA tournament. Number 2 seeded Arizona lost to Xavier last night 73-71. Xavier will now move onto the Elite Eight for the first time since 2008. This is also the first time in the last two NCAA tournaments Arizona has failed to reach the Elite Eight.
Xavier rode the coat tails of Trevon Bluiett for the first half where he scored 18 points. He was able to keep them in the game and added 7 more points in the second half. It seemed that Arizona was on the road to another Elite Eight appearance, but their offense stalled in the last three minutes. They failed to score in the last 2:52, and Xavier mounted their comeback.
After upsetting Maryland in the first round, Xavier was undaunted headed into last night’s match up. Will there be more upsets coming for the Musketeers? Knowing the history of the tournament, it is very likely. Stay tuned to TTownSports.com for more NCAA basketball coverage.
