Around The Halo 6/2/09

Following their exciting 9-8 walk off stunner against the Mariners on Sunday, The Angels head to the Great White North to face the Toronto Blue Jays. Unfortunately for the Angels, up first is perennial Cy Young candidate Roy Halladay. Halladay has had great success against some current Angels. Juan Rivera is 0-14 against him. Torii Hunter (.133), Bobby Abreu (.176) and Gary Matthews Jr. (.207).

After their stop in Canada, the Halos head over to Detroit to face the Tigers then down to Florida to face the AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays.

Chone Figgins talks to the LA Times about how he’s gotten his offense on track and the pride he takes in his defense.

Another player who’s offense is picking up is left fielder Juan Rivera. Typically a slow starter, Rivera has been playing very well on both offense and defense as of late.

Kelvim Escobar made what is likely his last rehab start on Monday. He wasn’t exactly sharp, but as of this writing there are no reports of Escobar feeling any abnormal pain.

Mark Saxon of the OC Register talks with Brandon Wood about his situation. Wood says he understands the business aspect of why he’s remaining at AAA and that has allowed him to relax not worry about it.

Interestingly, if Mike Scioscia is ready to make a move (most likely with the .225 hitting Howie Kendrick) it would likely be Sean Rodriguez not Wood. Rodriguez currently leads the minors with 18 home runs playing second base for the Bees.

Torii Hunter is moving up in the All Star voting. Hunter has gone from 11th to 6th. Keep on voting fans !
