The Boston Red Sox dropped another one to the White Sox yesterday, by a score of 5-4. It was a tough loss as we lost Kevin Youkilis to a collision (Doug Mientkiewicz will be playing second base tonight) and Mike Timlin came on only to cough up a two-run homer to Carlos Lee to provide all the runs the White Sox would need.
Mike Timlin has hit a bad stretch as noted by Eric Van over at Sons of Sam Horn.
On June 27th he had a 2.88 ERA, but he had actually pitched a bit better than that. His True ERA was 2.60, his CEE (factoring out situational karma) was 2.44, his CEE+ (factoring out balls-in-play karma) was 2.77. He was 4-2 with 7 holds, a save, and 2 blown saves
