Assessing the Rose Scholars Program

NBA: Playoffs-Minnesota Timberwolves at Houston Rockets

Ok…for you high school students applying—I’m just reminiscing about the good ol’ times—when you consider the reality that you have books, assignments, and social lives to balance….mm, are you thinking what I’m thinking?

This application doesn’t look so user-friendly…

Which—shrug—isn’t good. What I’m saying is the information on the Rose Scholars program could be showcased in a way that is more accessible to high school students who live increasingly busy lives.

Maybe an infographic?

Meme?

Gif?

And maybe even giving those who do not meet the SAT/ACT requirement an opportunity. If Derrick Rose “ hope[s] to provide students a path to college that was not previously available to them,” It’s not simply extending the olive branch to those who are eligible.

There’s a lot more students today who are in need, but they don’t meet the requirements.

So if I were a high school junior all over again, after assessing the presentation and merits of the Rose Scholars program, would I apply right away?

No—smh—not yet.

Not until the Game Rules are more fair.
