Faced with the possibility of losing another wing, the Atlanta Hawks draft Taurean Prince to slide in at the wing.
The Player: Taurean Prince was the leader for a Baylor squad that competed with the best teams in the Big XII. He brings high levels of energy and emotion to every play, and few players have more defensive ability than Prince in this draft. He can score, but hasn’t demonstrated a consistent three-point shot to this point, something he will need to be the player teams want him to be.
The Fit: Atlanta has a pipeline for 3-and-D wings, including DeMarre Carroll and Kent Bazemore. Taurean Prince could be the next man up, and he is ready to step into the rotation immediately with his defense. If he develops his shot, he becomes a valuable piece who could start in a year or two. If he doesn’t he will hamper a team without great shooting at the point guard position.
