After this past Monday night on RAW, I am excited to announce that The Authority returned. Not only did they make their grand entrance, but they also reestablished their rights and made everyone aware that they are coming back stronger than they were before.
When you look at people’s comments from Monday night’s episode, many were disappointed with how the show went. I don’t think the show was as terrible as people are making it seem. I feel that people are upset because they wanted something huge to happen; they wanted Sting.
The Authority started off the night by honoring John Cena for bringing them back and doing what was “best for business” with a “John Cena Appreciation Night”. Not only did this make Cena feel absolutely terrible, but matters became worse when his attendance was made mandatory at the celebration at the end of the night.
The Authority then gave Seth Rollins the best gift he could have ever asked for; A title match. But not just any title match. They turned the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at the Royal Rumble into a triple threat title match featuring Seth Rollins vs. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar.
As Rollins jumped up and down hugging Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, it sunk in that Rollins still has his Money in the Bank briefcase. This means it has to be almost impossible for Rollins not to win this title match. Although the odds seem to be in his favor at the moment, it would be interesting to see him lose both the title and his Money in the Bank contract in the same night.
Just when you thought Stephanie and Triple H could not get any worse, they had more surprises. They announced that Dolph Ziggler would be defending his Intercontinental Championship against the man that just returned from a shoulder surgery, but as Triple H said, never really lost the title to begin with, Bad News Barrett.
Ziggler went on to win the match, but the bad news just kept on coming when Kane came out and announced the match would be two-out-of-three falls. Barrett then won the next two falls and won back his Intercontinental Championship.
Team Cena continued to get their punishments from The Authority at the end of the night during “John Cena Appreciation Night”. Ryback, Ziggler, and Erick Rowan were all called out into the ring to take whatever punishment The Authority had up their sleeve.
Triple H and Stephanie started discussing how long each person’s suspension would be all while Cena stood in the ring with a look of defeat on his face.
They started by saying Rowan should get a 30-day suspension with no pay, Ryback 60, and Ziggler 90. But then they decided they needed to discuss this further. As they whispered to each other, they walked out of the ring and up the ramp where they told all three superstars that they didn’t feel suspension was good enough. Therefore, they were fired.
As these superstars stood in the ring, looking as sad as they ever have, balloons and confetti fell from the ceiling along with music so everyone could once again appreciate Cena for everything that has happened.
I love The Authority. Many people hate them but their evil personalities make WWE unique. Not only are they wrestlers themselves, but they know the business side of the company as well. These skills make them the ultimate power couple and a force to be reckoned with.
Now that they are back, I feel like there are going to be a lot of good matches coming up; hopefully one with Tripe H and Sting. A lot of people are anticipating this match, and it would be a great one to see. We just have to be patient and hopefully our wishes will be granted.
But just because Sting didn’t come out to defend Team Cena on Monday doesn’t mean that the show wasn’t great. It means you have to keep watching to see what’s next.
