Automatic Otto Rankings: Week 9

mick

5- Blaine Gabbert, 49ers (last week: NR)

In his first NFL start since 2013, Blaine Gabbert was efficient in leading the 49ers to a 17-16 upset win over the Atlanta Falcons. Gabbert finished 15 of 25 for 185 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions (one of which wasn’t his fault), and 32 yards rushing on 8 carries.

Not bad for a QB who was torn to shreds earlier last week by ESPN’s Tim Hasselbeck.

4-  Sam Bradford, Eagles (last week: NR)

Despite all the turmoil that the Eagles have been through this season, here they sit 9 weeks into the season, at 4-4, one game behind the NY Giants for the Division. In Sunday night’s thriller against Dallas, Bradford was sharp, as he picked apart the Cowboys to the tune of 295 yards, including tossing the game winner in overtime as the Eagles won 33-27.

Bradford’s yardage included passes of 44, 41, and 27 twice.

3- Andrew Luck, Colts (last week: NR)

Luck and the Colts pulled off a big win on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, knocking them from the ranks of the undefeated. Luck tossed for 252 yards and a pair of scores, while tacking on 34 yards rushing in a 27-24 win.

Later it was learned that Luck played with a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle, which will keep him out of action for 2-6 weeks.

2- Marcus Mariota, Titans (last week: NR)

Marcus Mariota returned to action against a red hot New Orleans team that had won their last three games, and had a field day as the Titans shocked the Saints in overtime, 34-28.

Mariota finished 28 of 39 for 371 yards and 4 touchdown passes.

1- Cam Newton, Panthers (last week: 3)

Cam Newton might just be, the MVP of the league right now. When you take into consideration that his No. 1 wide receiver is out, leaving his tight end as his No. 1 option now, you cannot help but be amazed at his leadership, and his offensive output.

On Sunday against Green Bay, Newton totaled 4 touchdowns (3 passing and 1 rushing), as the Panthers beat the Packers 37-29, to remain undefeated.

Newton was the only QB to return to the Automatic Otto’s, and he takes the top spot for Week 9.
