Average “Joe” Bucs fan should NOT call for Glennon permanently at QB for Tampa Bay Buccaneers

IF the Bucs continue on their ways this year, there will be a time to throw in the towel and look towards next year. WEEK 3 IS NOT THAT TIME.

It’s the typical reaction of your average JOE Bucs fan, and not

something I would expect from any media outlet who covers the Bucs. As a fan, I expect Knee-Jerk reactions. FANS are the ones who call for the Bucs to bring in a new offensive coordinator, knowledgable football people should realize that you cannot bring in a new Offensive Coordinator after week 3. It’s beyond silly, its embarrassing.

Josh McCown has made some bonehead plays, everyone can agree with that. But this offense was given to McCown for a reason, he is the better QB than Mike Glennon.

McCown only signed a 2 year contract, he is not the QB of the future,

McCown is NOT the QB of the Future, but he IS the hand picked QB that gives Bucs best chance to win....for now.

but the time to look to the future is not now. Winning has to come first. McCown gives the Bucs the best chance to win right now. He had the reps with the offense all offseason. The team moved the ball with McCown at the helm, if not for a ton of bonehead plays on many players account!

  1. Bobby Rainey has fumbled so many times it’s not funny. Blowouts like the Atlanta game happen during a ‘perfect storm’. When the offense can get first downs but loses them because of dropped wheel route passes, fumbled runs, thats three drives what would have continued early in the game that would have made a difference in the score. Maybe not the outcome, but lets face it, you wouldn’t be so upset had Bucs lost 32-30 would you?
  2. Vincent Jackson is a team Captain. It’s way past time to act like one, Captains don’t drop passes as often as Jackson has. At least two drives would have continued had Jackson caught the ball.
  3. Various others..like Herron who dropped a high yet catchable ball that would have continued an early drive. The Offensive Line blocks inconsistently. Against the Rams they looked better, at Atlanta they had their moments, but pass protection was better than opening running lanes.
  4. Josh McCown has the finger pointed at him the most, against Carolina he committed rookie like atrocities. When the Rams came to play, he made one more, but cut down on them. The opening drive TD was nice way to start a game; who knows if we would have opened the ATL game with score had conversions been achieved. I do know the Pick 6 Josh threw was another bad pass, but the whole night, that was McCowns only bad play.

Lovie Smith hand picked McCown to be the QB of this team. If he quits on Josh in week 3, he, well, he QUITS.

How can you preach to your team about fighting adversity, and the first sign of it as a coach you crumble?

Don’t get me wrong, I TOO see the upside in bringing in Glennon to play so we can see if there is anything there to base the future on. But that time hasn’t come now! Its too soon, first this team needs to learn how to win. You can have the defense quit, the Atlanta games is proof of that. You can’t have the special teams quit; again, the Atlanta game is the pudding for that one!

Give McCown at least half a season to overcome the adversity this team is facing: it’s Offensive Coordinator down, An O line that is inconsistent, Key players that drop or fumble balls, a Defensive Line void of pressure?

It may not be up to the coach, as Glennon may start vs the Steelers to

Let the Jeff Tedford situation go where it may. give him time to heal before you replace him IN WEEK 3!!!

offset the injury to McCowns throwing hand. It will be good to see what he can do on such short notice. But regardless of the outcome, and I’m willing to bet the outcome will be another loss with a futile offensive effort, once McCown is healthy he needs to go back being the starting QB because he gives the Bucs the best chance to win. The coaches told us that from day one when they picked him up in free agency, hand picked no less.

Desperation time is later, time to throw in the towel, is MUCH MUCH later.  And for God’s sake, you don’t bring in a new offensive coordinator after week 3, which QB are you trying to confuse the hell out of with that move????
