The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will return to the gridiron this Saturday as they face off against the Navy Midshipmen at FedEx Field. The Irish last suited up October 18th at Florida State in a game that ended in the final seconds as Notre Dame took a 31-27 loss.
They are in the midst of a three game road trip with games at Florida State and Arizona State sandwiched by this weekend’s game in Washington D.C. Currently, the average ticket price is $91 for the Saturday night matchup with a get-in price of just $19. FedEx Field suites for the game start at $5,125, according to SuiteHop.
The Irish need a convincing victory this weekend following the loss to the Seminoles. The College Football Playoff committee came out with their initial rankings this past Tuesday evening and Notre Dame was 10th, a four spot drop compared to their spot in the AP Poll, currently 6th. Most likely, the difference in opinion is due to the Irish not having a particularly impressive victory on their schedule. The best win is most likely their last minute 17-14 victory over then 14th-ranked Stanford. But the Cardinal are just 5-3 on the season with several more difficult games to come so that game looks less and less impressive as the season continues.
A convincing win against Navy would give the voters a little more confidence in the team as they get ready for a crucial matchup with Arizona State next weekend. The Sun Devils are currently ranked 14th in both the College Football Playoff Rankings and the AP Poll. A win on the road against Arizona State (along with a win this weekend) would put the Irish at 8-1 and have a strong road victory.
But the team can’t afford to look ahead this weekend and need to put away a pesky Navy team. The Midshipmen won’t be a pushover as the 4-4 program opened the season with a tight game against Ohio State and need just two more victories to qualify for a bowl game. The Irish will need to avoid mistakes and not let Navy stay competitive in the ball game.
