Buccaneers Unit Currency Stock (B.U.C.S.) – Rising/Falling
Week one is in the books, and the Bucs didn’t look so hot against the Lions. Here how the Buccaneers players, staff, and fans are faring, and it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why.
Rising – 2 Minute Offense – Again the comeback kids looked like they were going to put together a late game comeback, scoring the Bucs’ only offensive touchdown in the 4th quarter.
Falling – Early Game Offense – Seeing that Blount only carried the ball 5 times is a problem, and a major reason the Bucs were slow to get started against the Lions.
Rising – Offensive Line – The Lions have built a mammoth defensive line, and the Bucs’ offensive linemen kept Josh Freeman mostly clean, allowing only 2 sacks.
Falling – Defensive Line – 126 rushing yards allowed and zero sacks is not how the Bucs young defensive linemen pictured opening day turning out. Look out, next week the Bucs face Adrian Peterson.
Rising – Special Teams – 2 for 2 on field goals, a 52.2 yard average for punts, and a 78 yard kickoff return all contributed to the Bucs being in the game late.Falling – Special praise for doing the right thing – Lockout or not, I give Raheem Morris all the credit in the world for being a good person and calling a member of the Bucs after that member had a child. To all the haters, that is called being a good role model.
Falling – Players’ hydration – We all know it is hot in Tampa in September, but the Bucs players should be prepared for this by now.
Falling further– Fans’ hydration – There is no reason that Raymond James should run out of ice or water anywhere in the stadium, especially on a day in which temperatures are pushing 100 degrees. This is a problem that needs to be fixed before the complaints get louder and the stands get emptier.
