The UW men's hockey team downed the USA U-18 National Development Team 5-0 Saturday night in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center.
Mark Zengerle put the Badgers up 1-0 just 3:11 into the first period of Wisconsin's first powerplay opportunity of the night.
Kevin Schulze extended the lead to two with a goal late in the period. That score would hold heading into the first intermission.
Another quick strike kept the Badgers rolling in the second period as Morgan Zulinick scored on a breakaway just over a minute into the second stanza.
Brad Navin set up Brendan Woods in the slot for Wisconsin's for the fourth goal of the contest with a shade under six minutes left in the period.
Chase Drake pounded home a powerplay score in the early portion of the third period to extend the lead to 5-0. He fnished the night with a goal and two assists.
Starting goatender Joel Rumpel recorded nine saves, while Landon Peterson tallied 14 of his own to combine for the shutout.
Joseph LaBate and Brad Navin each added two assists.
Wisconsin finished the tilt 2-7 on the powerplay in 2-2 on the penalty kill.
The Badgers now turn their attention to the regular season opener against Northern Michigan Firday night at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m.
