After a few weeks separating the release of the 2014 and 2015 schedules for Big Ten football we now have the 2015 schedule in front of us. If you're all amped up, sorry to disappoint you – you can now go back to your regularly scheduled nap or work day (aren't they one in the same sometimes?).
Here is the 2015 schedule for your viewing pleasure:
DATE | OPPONENT |
Oct. 3 | IOWA |
Oct. 10 | @ Nebraska |
Oct. 17 | PURDUE |
Oct. 24 | @ Illinois |
Oct. 31 | RUTGERS |
Nov. 7 | @ Maryland |
Nov. 14 | BYE |
Nov. 21 | NORTHWESTERN |
Nov. 28 | @ Minnesota |
Quick Thoughts:
– You had to know that this dud of a schedule was coming down the pipeline based on 2014. While it's not the same set up in terms of how the schedule plays out from week to week it's the same exact cross-divisional games.
– Wisconsin is likely to know if it'll be West division championship contenders after Oct. 17, as they play three straight games against fellow West division foes to open play, including rivals Iowa and Nebraska. In fact, that Oct. 10th game in Lincoln could very well decide the division.
– On the positive side, I think the last two games are criminally underrated by fans at this point in time. Northwestern is simply becoming a power, both on the field and in the recruiting arena and to think they won't be competitors for the division title is to not pay attention to what's going on. As for the Gophs, well, they are increasingly improving and by the time this game rolls around their starting QB this season will be a senior and at some point in time you'd think they could put it all together and find a way to beat us – after all, that would be year number 12 in a row for UW holding the Axe.
