Friday Night lights haven’t hit Wisconsin high schools just yet, but on Friday night the Wisconsin Badgers football coaching staff had a late night of its own, celebrating a new member of the class of 2015.
That’s because 3-star offensive lineman Kevin Estes was making his collegiate choice and Wisconsin was among the frontrunners for his verbal pledge. At 10pm CT that pledge went the Badgers’ way, with Estes becoming the 19th verbal commitment to the program for the 2015 class.
Thank you to the colleges who have offered, I am honored. Tonight I'm proud to announce my commitment to the Univ. of Wisconsin. Go Badgers!

Estes, a 6’6, 275-pounder out of San Marcos, Cal. is rated as the No. 607-ranked player in the nation by the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 65-ranked offensive tackle and No. 67-ranked player in the state of California for the 2015 class.
With the commitment, Wisconsin moves up to No. 19 in the 247Sports national team rankings. UW had slipped down to No. 21 prior to this commitment. Estes is the first commitment for the Badgers since OLB Dominic Sheppard committed on July 29th.
While Estes may not be the typical big-bodied offensive lineman the Badgers usually bring in, he’s got plenty of room to put on weight and appears to be a great combination of size, strength and overall athletic ability.
It’s that combination that makes him the right fit for the Badgers, as UW’s offensive linemen have long been vastly underrated as pure athletes for their size. It’s something that shines through on his film too:
